Coronavirus. In May, 15 thousand checks by the local police for compliance with the provisions

Milan, June 2 2020 – The so-called 'Phase 2' ends today, during which the local police of the Municipality of Milan carried out around 15 thousand checks to verify compliance with the provisions contained in the Prime Ministerial Decree and regional ordinances.

“Even in this second phase, the local police officers stood out for their fundamental contribution to the protection of the territory – commented the Deputy Mayor and Security Councilor Anna Scavuzzo – and for their ability to be close to the citizens, in a delicate passage for Milan and for all of us. The Corps has been able to readjust, with a great spirit of service, to the needs of the city, to adapt to the new requirements and needs that have changed over time, leaving unchanged the ability to respond to the need for attention and clear indications on the behavior to be followed. We have received many messages of thanks: I join those who have recognized our Ghisa's diligence in responding to reports, combined with professionalism and sensitivity in numerous interventions".

In particular, around 4.900 checks were carried out on people, which led to 60 sanctions, and over 3.800 checks were carried out in public establishments, for a total of 38 contexts, of which 5 were for the sale of alcohol and spirits to take away after 19pm.

Over 3.900 interventions were carried out in parks and green areas, which led to the removal of 1.700 people: 580 locations were monitored and 55 sanctions were imposed. Furthermore, around 800 people were made to get off public surface transport and 30 were fined for not wearing a mask on buses or trams by the patrols dedicated to interventions in aid of ATM.

And again, 2.100 contacts were made by the unit that is taking care of the checks for compliance with the quarantines.

Finally, since the reopening of all the weekly open markets, there are around 150 patrols that, every week, are responsible for promoting the maintenance of safety measures.
