Milan, May 8 2020 - The Municipality close to traders in this moment of great difficulty. The Council today approved a resolution which provides for the expansion of concessions for the occupation of public land for the provision of food and drinks and the simplification of the procedures for obtaining them within 15 days, as well as the temporary suspension of payment of the occupation tax What P. 

The text will have to be approved by the City Council.

"A measure that responds to the Milan 2020 strategy to facilitate the possibility of placing tables for outdoor bars and restaurants in the city - declares the Urban Planning councilor Pierfrancesco Maran -. On the one hand we support businesses in difficulty, on the other we improve the quality of public space in neighborhoods offering services to citizens".


“Guidelines that demonstrate how the Administration is close to the problems and difficulties that one of the strategic sectors for the economy of the city and the country is experiencing – explains the Councilor for Productive Activities and Commerce, Cristina Tajani -. The reduced authorization times are intended to be an incentive and support for the immediate resumption of activities which have been stopped for two months for a start in complete safety for operators and customers".

 

The rules relating to the authorization process of public land for the installation of tables, umbrellas, platforms and structures, connected to the exercise of the activity of serving food and drinks in bars, restaurants, entertainment venues and other activities, are thus temporarily suspended. commercial, with the aim of increasing the relative occupation spaces in compliance with the distancing and quotas envisaged by the current regulations. 

 

As regards requests for land occupation, which will be granted on green areas, pavements and areas in which the circulation of vehicles, emergency vehicles and pedestrians must be guaranteed, a simplified procedure will be adopted which provides for a maximum authorization time of 15 days. Once the temporary structures have been installed, monitoring and controls will be activated by the competent offices and specific Service Conferences will be convened with the participation of the Municipalities. 

All current provisions in the field of safety and public safety remain firm and mandatory, both relating to road safety and public order.
