Milan, May 9 2022 – The City Council approved, with 35 votes in favour, 3 abstentions and no against, the changes to the provisions of the Service Plan relating to three city areas, functional to their inclusion in the project for the implementation of 24 community homes and hospitals, to which the The municipal administration contributes by making available 12 areas and spaces it owns.

The resolution, which indicated the areas of via Valsesia and De André, as well as the property in viale Jenner 44, had already been approved by the council during the meeting of 15 April. The debate in the chamber led to the approval of an amendment which replaces, again for the purposes of the construction of a community home/hospital, the area of ​​via De André with the contiguous one of via dei Missaglia, an underused space facing the train station Carabinieri Headquarters at number 57. The replacement accepts the indications of Municipality 5, within which the areas are located, and implements the integration approved by the council chamber as part of the recent debate relating to the 2022 Real Estate Sales and Development Plan , which has also added the one in via dei Missaglia to the list of spaces available for community homes/hospitals.

The health system has asked the Municipality of Milan to be able to use some spaces or buildings by indicating the areas of interest, i.e. those in which it does not have its own direct structures. The Administration, considering these services fundamental for citizens, has made available the best solutions achievable in the specific areas required by the healthcare system. The sites suitable for hosting community homes and hospitals were therefore identified in already urbanized areas, favoring "grey" areas or abandoned services.

This is the framework within which the areas covered by the resolution were identified which, thanks to this provision, are included in the classification relating to public services belonging to the "Health" category.
