Town Council. Clarifications from President Elena Buscemi
Milan, November 4 2021 – I read with great amazement, due to the gross errors, and with regret, due to a certain lack of respect towards the work carried out by the councilors, what was reported today on the national pages of the Libero newspaper. And I therefore believe it is necessary to clarify some points to protect the role and seriousness of the Milanese City Council.
First point. It is not true that if a session ends after midnight a double token is expected. The participation allowance, the so-called "token", is always one for each session, regardless of the start and end time of the same.
Paragraph 1 of article 32 of the Organization and Operational Regulations of the Municipal Council states: "The councilors have the right to receive an attendance fee for participation in each meeting of the Council and of the Council Commission, the amount of which is fixed, within the limits provided for by current regulations, with Council resolution".
Second point. Today's City Council is convened, as in the vast majority of cases, at 16pm with a roll call at 16pm. It is written in the invitation sent to all councillors. I am therefore sure that everyone will be on time today, as on other occasions. All except one, perhaps.
