Town Council. Controls, involvement of private individuals and distribution of resources on the territory, the resolution on the management of PNRR funds was approved

Unanimous green light to the address signed by councilors Pacente and Forte. A reporting system for financing and projects accessible to citizens has been proposed

Milan, June 27 2022 - Coordination between investments, involvement of private individuals and strengthening of controls on the use and management of PNRR funds and European programmes.
The City Council approved with a unanimous vote the council initiative resolution entitled "PNRR and European funds 2021-2027: guidelines for coordinated and effective management of interventions financed under the PNRR, of the new EU cohesion policy and the 2021-2027 European programs for the benefit of Milan and its metropolitan area - an act of mere political direction".

The document, proposed by councilors Carmine Pacente of the Democratic Party and Matteo Forte of Milano Popolare, commits the Administration on three fronts. First, the search for effective coordination "at municipal level - and also metropolitan where possible - between the investments financed by the different types of European funds, starting from the PNRR, from the EU cohesion funds, up to directly managed programs and of European territorial cooperation to guarantee a fair distribution of interventions throughout the territory, involving the city council".

The second point asks to also open to private individuals. Specifically, to call "through a public procedure, private entities, third sector, trade associations, representative organizations (...) to develop any public-private partnerships consistent with the objectives of the PNRR (...) in order to to activate a leverage effect and be able to trigger changes".

Finally, the resolution envisages evaluating "forms of strengthening the control activity on the correct management of the resources referred to in the PNRR". In this regard, an amendment was also approved which provides for a system of reporting to the public on the use of resources and the status of the projects started.

According to what is reported in the document voted by the Council, the resources for investments whose implementation is assigned to municipalities and metropolitan cities amount to approximately 40 billion euros.
