Tasca: "Operation of significant economic importance for the Municipality but the right signal for the city". The House votes in favor of the benefits provided for businesses and families

Milan, June 30 2021 – The City Council approved the 2021 Tari tariff plan. Some important reliefs are introduced for businesses and families affected by the economic crisis resulting from the health emergency.

Businesses forced to close following government measures in recent months will enjoy a 100% relief on the variable part of the tariff. A 50% cut is instead foreseen for domestic users of some categories of families.

"The council has implemented the political direction expressed by the municipal council and has managed to apply some decisive discounts to the 2021 waste tariff – states the budget councilor, Roberto Tasca –. There has been an important contribution from the government to support the reliefs but the operation, of significant financial weight, was possible above all thanks to the solidity of the balance sheets of Palazzo Marino, which despite the difficulties of the moment, made it possible to intervene in support of businesses and families".

The Tari 2021 Economic and Financial Plan highlights an overall cost of the service of 297,3 million euros to which is added the recovery of Covid-19 costs relating to 2020 of 11,8 million euros, for a total total of 309 million EUR. The greater benefits provided for businesses and families cost 41,1 million euros.

The expected expenditure to cover business incentives is 36 million euros, of which 24 are financed by the Government. On the other hand, the expenditure for families is 5 million euros and provides for a 50% reduction in the variable part of the tariff. However, the benefits already in place remain in force, such as those provided for food recovery, which amount to €5,5 million.

The measure concerns families made up of 4 or more members in accommodation with a surface area of 120 square meters or less. Also included are families made up of three members, including one adult and two minors, or two members, including one adult and one minor, who reside in accommodation with a surface area of 80 square meters or less.

Families made up of two members, at least one of whom is over seventy-five, are also included in the relief. And families composed of a single member over seventy-five.
