Annual subscription at the same price and in installments. Improvements for seniors and young people, with free admission for up to 14 years old. Discounts for families. Free for pets too. Multiple clocking in on the subway

Milan, June 26 2019 – The City Council approved yesterday at 23pm, with 55 votes in favor and 27 against (6 councilors were present in the room at the time of the vote) the tariff concessions that the Municipality of Milan will apply to public transport starting from July 33th , when the reform launched by the Basin Agency (STIBM) comes into force.

Some of the concessions are part of the package of proposals approved by the Council in recent weeks. Among these, the maintenance of the cost of the annual season ticket at the current 330 euros, to protect the continuous use of public transport by citizens and workers, and the possibility of splitting the cost in installments in a way that tends not to involve additional costs for service. 

FREE 
It has been decided to make the transport service free for children up to 14 years of age, to provide concrete help to families. The season ticket is also free for those over 65 with an ISEE of less than 16 thousand euros and, thanks to the Council's amendments, teachers (one for every 10 children) who accompany school groups on trips will be able to travel for free. The free will also be applied to pets.

YOUNG 
The cost of the reduced season ticket remains unchanged for young people, who will be able to benefit from it up to the age of 27 instead of 26; Furthermore, the benefits are extended up to 30 years of age with an ISEE under 28 thousand euros (monthly and annually at 22 and 200 euros respectively) at an unchanged price compared to today. 
Another novelty is also dedicated to young people: up to the age of 27, for those who have public transport season tickets, the cost of the BikeMi season ticket drops from 29 to 12 euros; from 28 years old the cost goes from 29 to 24 euros. 

For everyone, starting from the introduction of the new tariff system, it will be possible to "load" the BikeMi subscription onto the ATM card, completely integrating the two services.
The Administration also undertakes to check with micromobility operators - car and scooter sharing, car pooling and others - possible facilitations for public transport subscribers.

OVER 65 
Facilities also on season tickets for those over 65 with ISEE income between 16 and 28 thousand euros: the cost of the annual pass will be 200 euros. Even more convenient is the new 'Senior off peak' which, at the same cost, will be valid on the surface from the start of service (and not just from 9), everywhere and always even on weekends and will be available to everyone aged 30 and over and for pensioners aged 65 and over.

DISCOUNTS 
An annual subscription of 50 euros is introduced for people with an ISEE of less than 6 thousand euros, for the unemployed with an ISEE of less than 16.900 euros and for prisoners on work permit outside the place of detention.
For families, a 50% discount on the cost of the annual subscription for parents with three dependent children.

The introduction of the short-term ticket, the electronic ticket and, as regards season tickets, the multi-year season ticket discounted at 2020% has been confirmed for 10.
Furthermore, for the next three years the Administration undertakes to freeze the price of annual subscriptions.

The possibility of multiple stamping has also been introduced in the metro network within the 90 minutes of ticket validity.

The single ticket which goes from €1,50 to €2 will be valid over a larger area, not only in Milan but also in the 21 first-tier municipalities, including Rho Fiera, Sesto San Giovanni, Rozzano, San Donato, Bresso , Bollate, Segrate, Cinisello Balsamo, Vimodrone, Cesano Boscone, Corsico, Settimo Milanese, Novate, Cologno Monzese, Peschiera Borromeo.

The Council also proposed to introduce a restriction to allocate approximately 4 million euros to strengthen activities to combat tax evasion and the safety of those who travel and work on public transport.

“Thanks also to the Council's proposals – declares Marco Granelli, councilor for Mobility and Environment – ​​we have achieved a profound reform of the fare system in favor of those who choose public transport. We want to continue investing in the development of the network, even in the face of fewer resources from the Government and the Region, but today we shared the need to protect workers, families, young people and the elderly more than tourists and occasional users. An efficient, fast, widespread collective transport network with fair fares over an increasingly wider territory is the answer to the growing need for mobility of citizens and users and to the need to improve the quality of the air we breathe".
