Milan, February 1 2021– The City Council approved the establishment of the Green, Soil and Trees Guarantor and the related regulation. The main task of the Guarantor will be to monitor the correct application of the regulations regarding land consumption and greenery protection, as well as implementing the procedures for the expansion of the Southern Agricultural Park for a surface area of ​​over 1,5 million mXNUMX, as established in the Territorial Government Plan.  

The new figure will also have to contribute to ensuring the protection of land consumption and the increase in greenery and existing trees, promote listening and information actions towards citizens, dialogue with municipal offices on compensation initiatives linked to land consumption , verify the monitoring in collaboration with the One Stop Shop Area for Construction and the Municipalities of the interventions to be carried out on private land which involve modification of the use of the land and the trees, verify the application and compliance with the Regulations of Use and Protection of public and private green spaces, draw up a periodic report, which will be made available for appropriate consultation by citizens on a specific section of the city portal of the Municipality of Milan.  
 
The Guarantor will be an independent collegial body made up of three members, appointed by the Mayor from among competent people in the field of environmental sciences and urban planning who will remain in office for five years with possible renewal only once. The Guarantor, who will carry out his honorary role, will report to the Mayor, the Council, the City Council and the Commissions, will have access to administrative documents and will be able to report and request initiatives and interventions from the Municipal bodies whenever he deems it appropriate.
