Ordinance to prohibit the sale and introduction into Piazza Duomo of glass, cans, plastic bottles, fireworks, firecrackers and stinging spray

Milan, May 25 2019 - Monday 27 May Radio Italia organizes LIVE-IL CONCERTO in Piazza Duomo. Given the large influx of people, the municipal administration agreed with the organizers and the public security authorities on some measures to limit inconvenience to the city and the participants as much as possible and guarantee their safety.

There will be some traffic restrictions from 14pm on Monday until 02am on Tuesday. The closure to vehicle traffic, as well as in Piazza Duomo, is also foreseen in via Mazzini, via Orefici, via Palazzo Reale, via Cardinal Martini, corso Vittorio Emanuele II, via Santa Radegonda, via San Raffaele, via Mercanti, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. All these locations will be cordoned off and even just for pedestrians to pass through it will be necessary to undergo security checks. In particular, Piazza Duomo will also be completely closed to traffic when it fills up for the concert audience, therefore it is advisable to prefer alternative routes from mid-afternoon.

From 14 pm until the end of the concert, entry and exit from the Palazzo Reale exhibitions will only be permitted from via Pecorari, while access and exit from the Museo del Novecento will be possible from via Marconi and not from Piazzetta Reale .

As regards public transport, ATM has set up an extraordinary service with upgraded subways and extended hours until late at night. The M1 and M3 lines extend the timetable with last departures from the center scheduled for around 1 am. M10 trains traveling beyond the normal midnight time will terminate at Molino Dorino and not at Rho Fieramilano. Starting from the early afternoon, around 1pm, the M14-M1 Duomo station will be closed. To change lines, we recommend Centrale, Loreto or Cadorna stations. To reach Piazza Duomo you can use the nearby stations of Cordusio, San Babila, Montenapoleone and Missori. From approximately 3pm, lines 13, 30, 2, 3 and 14 will be temporarily diverted and slowed down. Information on modified routes on the website and on the ATM app. To plan your trip, it is advisable to consider the metro lines.

The interchange car parks with the Gobba, Famagosta, San Donato, Maciachini, Molino Dorino, Lampugnano and Bisceglie metro stations extend their opening hours until 2 am.

The ATM point and Area B and C Info point in the Duomo station will close at 13pm. Customer assistants will be available to passengers in the stations near Piazza Duomo to give information on timetables, travel solutions and tickets. To prevent the large influx of people from causing inconvenience, the Administration has issued an order which provides from 8 am on Monday 27 May to 3 am on Tuesday 28 May, in Piazza Duomo and in the surrounding streets within a radius of 200 metres, a ban on introducing or selling glass bottles, cans or closed plastic bottles and bring or use fireworks, firecrackers and pepper spray in the area. Commercial establishments are allowed to sell drinks, after pouring them into plastic or paper containers. The ordinance also prohibits the sale and consumption of spirits outside public establishments and the carrying out of commerce in an itinerant manner. However, the consumption of spirits in glass containers and spirits in the case of table service will be permitted.

To ensure safety, in addition to the police, over 80 local police officers will be present to manage traffic and anti-illegal checks.
