Trade. A day to discover how covered municipal markets are reborn

Monday from 15pm in Lorenteggio, with the aim of launching the first network between these structures in the name of commercial innovation and urban regeneration

Milan, February 15 2020 - The experiences, changes and new faces of the Covered Municipal Markets are told through commercial innovation, food sustainability and urban regeneration. In fact, "NEIGHBORHOOD MARKETS" will take place on Monday 17 February from 15pm to 19pm in the spaces of Mercato Lorenteggio, the day open to everyone to discover and learn how the historic Milanese structures are evolving. An event organized by Dynamoscopio, in collaboration with Eutropian and the support of the Department of Commerce and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Milan.

The program of meetings and debates proposed by "NEIGHBORHOOD MARKETS" is rich and, starting from a survey of the Italian and European scenario of relaunching covered markets, aims to demonstrate how this precious public heritage can rediscover its commercial and social vocation in an innovative way thanks to direct dialogue with the suburban neighborhoods, where they were mostly born.
The representative of the Administration will discuss these issues with regards to the valorisation of heritage and commercial innovation; Andrea Magarini, Food Policy coordinator of Milan, regarding food sustainability and circular economies; Claudio Calvaresi, senior consultant of Avanzi - Sustainability for Actions who will illustrate the experimentation of new business and service models for the regeneration of the suburbs.
During the afternoon, the experiences underway at the Covered Markets of Lorenteggio, Ferrara, Morsenchio and Lagosta will be illustrated, which in various capacities are experimenting with hybrid models between local trade and service activities and promotion of the territory.

An event aimed at traders and non-commercial operators of the 23 structures currently active in the city, with the aim of laying the foundations for the birth of a city network of Covered Municipal Markets with a social vocation, capable of strengthening its symbolic identity of the neighborhoods, as well as experimenting with new collaborative services in response to the needs of the neighborhoods and relaunching local commerce in an inclusive way as a resource for the city. The regeneration of the non-central neighborhoods of the city also involves the rebirth and valorization of places capable of bringing together residents and promotes the meeting of different experiences just like in the Covered Municipal Markets.

The meeting is free to enter and will be hosted in the cultural space of the Lorenteggio Market. For organizational matters, registration is welcome at the link: https://www.eventbrite.it/e/biglietti-mercati-di-quartiere-91578037375
