Trade. Resources from the Municipality to enhance the urban commercial districts

Tajani: “We want to support ideas and projects that enhance the commercial offer of the city as happened in the Sarpi, Isola and Porta Romana DUCs”

Milan, October 1 2019 – Organize events and demonstrations ranging from music to art, to food, through the restyling of street furniture up to the creation of cultural events or communication campaigns aimed at promoting the 13 D.U.C. (Urban Commercial Districts). This is the objective of the provision approved by the municipal council which makes 60 thousand euros available in favor of associations, foundations, committees and subjects that have a representative character within the urban commercial districts in order to enhance the commercial territory of the city and of individuals neighborhoods.

“We want to improve the commercial attractiveness of the entire city, from the outskirts to the centre, starting from bottom-up projects and collaboration between citizens, traders, social streets and operators already present in the districts - explains the councilor for employment policies, Productive Activities and Commerce, Cristina Tajani -. We are convinced that actions of this type, although limited in amount and being able to rely only on municipal and no longer regional resources, constitute a valid support for the commercial valorisation of the territory. The positive examples of Paolo Sarpi, Porta Romana and Isola show how the events and actions proposed and implemented by the Duc have proven useful for the commercial and cultural redevelopment of the neighborhoods".

Projects relating to the nine D.U.C. may be financed. identified by the Municipality and recognized by the Lombardy Region (Brera, Giambellino, Isola, Navigli, Sarpi, Galleria, XXV Aprile, Buenos Aires and Ticinese), in addition to the D.U.C. currently established by the Municipality (Porta Romana, Napo Torriani, Pratocentenaro and Vercelli - De Angeli).

Specifically, the Administration's contribution will be a maximum of 20 thousand euros for each D.U.C. Resources that will cover up to 80% of the costs incurred for the implementation of individual projects, for a total expenditure by the Administration of 60 thousand euros to cover expenses incurred in the period from September 2019 to January 2020. The financeable initiatives may range from promotion of historical-cultural and gastronomic itineraries, actions to improve attractiveness, territorial marketing and animation of individual districts. It is also possible to finance the structuring of common services as well as communication actions aimed at promoting the entire commercial offer of the district both towards current and potential consumers and citizens.
