Trade. From the Municipality the online map of useful neighborhood activities in this period of emergency

There are over 370 shops open that also carry out home deliveries for the inhabitants of the neighbourhoods, from food shops to drugstores. Tajani: “Thanks to technology we make available to everyone the list of neighborhood entities to turn to to avoid going out and find quality, service and availability”

Milan, March 26 2020 – From the bakery next door, through the butcher's shop, the greengrocer's or the fishmonger's, up to the shop selling household and personal detergents, without forgetting the needs of our four-legged friends; and again, pizzerias and takeaways that prepare dishes for those who do not know or cannot cook, in addition to the food operators present in 12 covered municipal markets and 50 city newsstands.

These are just some of the over 370 businesses that have joined "Domicile shopping" to date, the online and georeferenced map of the Municipality of Milan to make all citizens aware of the neighborhood businesses present in the neighborhoods which, in addition to being open, as provided for by the Prime Ministerial Decree of 11 to 12 March and by the ordinance of the Lombardy Region, they make home deliveries.

“We thought we would provide a useful service to the people of Milan to find, in the immediate vicinity of their home, small commercial activities available to make home deliveries in the neighbourhood, invaluable in this moment of emergency due to CoViD-19 – declares the councilor for Policies of work, Productive activities and Commerce Cristina Tajani -. We want to enhance those small neighborhood economic realities that are at the center of the economic life of each neighborhood and which can be strategic for limiting travel within the city and the individual area. A valid alternative for your shopping to large retailers which today require long queues and waiting times, even for home delivery. With a simple phone call, small traders can effectively respond to the needs, especially of the elderly and homebound people."

A list born from the collaboration of the Municipality of Milan with the nine municipalities of the city, Confcommercio Milano and its associative system, the street associations and the support of the main social streets present in the city.

The project has three objectives: the first is to make available, for each neighbourhood, a list of small businesses open and available for home deliveries, especially for the elderly, lonely and sick people; the second is to avoid gatherings as much as possible and limit long queues at large retailers; the third, and perhaps most important, is the valorization of neighborhood commerce understood as territorial protection and wealth of the neighborhood. The map, in addition to allowing you to view the activities in your neighborhood, also shows some information such as the address, contact details, payment and delivery methods (in-house or by carrier) with the related costs or free of charge.

The map and all the information can be consulted directly on https://www.comune.milano.it/aree-tematiche/servizi-sociali/milanoaiuta/spesa-a-domicilio .

In the same section, a specific membership format is also available, dedicated to businesses that wish to join the initiative by inserting information regarding their business on the map, declaring at the same time that delivery operations are carried out in compliance with health and hygiene standards both for the packaging and transport activities, as required by law and ministerial decrees.
