Tajani: “An opportunity to rediscover one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city between music, innovation and creativity, distinctive features of jazz such as via Paolo Sarpi”

Milan, September 11 2019 – Music becomes the protagonist in via Paolo Sarpi. For two days, Friday 13th and Saturday 14th, from 18pm to 21pm, the symbolic street of Milan's Chinatown will become the widespread stage of Jazz in Sarpi. The most awaited free musical event of the end of summer, which will see over 50 artists performing in 16 engaging jam sessions which will make the motifs and notes of the great masters of the genre resonate on four stages, arranged along the entire street: from Miles Davis to Charlie Parker passing through John Coltra and many others.

“An event – comments the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Commerce, Cristina Tajani – which represents the most authentic soul of a neighborhood, Paolo Sarpi, which has been able to surprisingly mix its renewed tension towards modernity and internationality with its more traditional soul, just like jazz melodies that mix different styles and souls in the name of creativity and innovation".

The calendar of the two days in music is rich and broad and will see Simona Severini among the talented jazz musicians on stage, a performer who mixes jazz and Renaissance music in an intimate and singer-songwriter dimension; the Osmosi Trio, who rework traditional Albanian, Greek, Jewish and Turkish melodies in a jazz key; the guitar talent of Sergio Arturo Calonego, who will perform using a modal tuning of Arabic origin; the small miniature Big Band of Jazz Lag; the I Am a Fish quintet, directed by guitarist Marco Carboni, which offers an original repertoire strongly influenced by contemporary New York jazz. Added to these are a musical homage to the famous French writer Boris Vian with "Blues Pour Boris", the celebration of the 50th anniversary of "In A Silent Way" by Miles Davis, the manouche virtuosity of Gipsy Pocket Swing, the trio of Massimo Vescovi , the quartets of Gabriele Boggio Ferraris, Biagio Coppa, Leader Temporaneo, Michelangelo Decorato, the latter in a special set featuring Monica Giuntoli.

Jazz in Sarpi is an event created by Gianni Bernardinello in 2012 which this year was created by Presso, recipient of the tender from the Municipality of Milan for the valorisation of the D.U.C. - Sarpi Urban District of Commerce (www.insarpi.it) in collaboration with the Department of Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Commerce of the Municipality of Milan, from Municipality 1.

The 2019 edition of Jazz in Sarpi is also made possible thanks to the support of over 40 commercial activities present on site including historic shops, modern retail brands, concept stores, restaurants which contributed to financing the two days, together with the funds already allocated by the D.U.C.
