Trade. Bars, restaurants and offices, the Municipality calls upon creatives and designers: ideas and projects to rethink spaces

The invitation to create a register of proposals to return to experiencing the city with new safety rules and guaranteeing social distancing. Tajani: “Let's think and redesign Milan as it reopens together"

Milan, 2 May 2020 - From spacers to vertical and horizontal signs to manage access, through to new furnishings and innovative solutions that optimize the outdoor space and the layout of the rooms, guaranteeing social distancing, without sacrificing conviviality and safety.

These are some of the ideas and projects sought by the Municipality of Milan for the reopening of historic shops, retail businesses, covered and uncovered markets as well as bars and restaurants and their outdoor spaces.

For this reason, the Administration has approved the guidelines for a consultation aimed in particular at creatives and designers aimed at creating a register of useful ideas in favor of the reopening of commercial and public spaces during Phase 2 of the health emergency.

“Never before – declares the councilor for Labor Policies, Productive Activities and Commerce, Cristina Tajani – do we need the imagination and imagination of designers, architects and creatives to identify solutions capable of reconciling safety and social distancing with people's social and conviviality needs and the use of shops and services. What we want to create - concludes Tajani - is a register of ideas and projects, aimed in particular at small and medium-sized businesses, which facilitates collaboration between private entities and, in particular, between creatives, designers, planners and traders for the reorganization of the layout of commercial spaces, shops and all those places which necessarily require the regulation of flows and other methods of managing services for their use, with the aim of guaranteeing maximum safety for operators and customers".

The projects and proposals, in line with current and future ministerial and regional requirements regarding the containment of Covid-19, may be presented by companies, associations, foundations, freelancers and other institutions as well as both public and private entities. There is no time limit within which to submit proposals, the invitation will remain open for the entire duration of the emergency. The projects will be periodically evaluated, discussed and included in a virtual catalog which can be consulted free of charge by interested traders and operators directly on the Administration's institutional channels.

The consultation is an added value for the city, which materializes one of the objectives of the document "Milan 2020 Adaptation Strategies" that the Administration published in recent days and which delves into the scenario of the city's restart after the Covid19 epidemic emergency by exposing some immediate or planned actions to manage the new normality.

In the next few days, all the information to participate in the collection of ideas and projects will be available on the Administration website.
