President Buscemi: "A ceremony full of emotion for the values ​​represented by these girls and boys who solemnly swear loyalty to the Italian Republic"

Milan, March 25 2023 - Today at the Arco della Pace the celebrations for the 175th anniversary of the Five Days of Milan officially ended. In the presence of the civil and military authorities of the city, the students of the first year of the "Fadini III" course of the Teulié Military School solemnly swore loyalty to the Italian Republic.

A very heartfelt ceremony during which the Tricolore received by the students last Saturday in the opening ceremony in Piazza Cinque Giornate was returned to the Municipality of Milan, in the hands of the President of the City Council, Elena Buscemi. 
This is the historic flag that was placed on the Main Spire of the Milan Cathedral, next to the Madonnina, during the glorious days of insurrection of 1848 and which every year, between 18 and 22 March, is kept by the Teulié Military School, until moment of the students' oath.

“With great emotion - said President Buscemi - I participated in the swearing-in ceremony of these girls and boys. All of them represent great hope for the values ​​that they contribute to keeping alive and for the commitment that from today, by swearing loyalty to the Italian Republic, they place in the defense and free and democratic growth of our country. We wish them a beautiful and satisfying future."

This marks the end of the celebrations for the Five Days of Milan which on this 175th anniversary have allowed numerous townspeople, citizens and tourists to visit both the Monument to the Five Days, with 14 rounds of visits and around 300 people also admitted to the crypt of the Fallen , and the Risorgimento Museum with thematic tour in the Brera district where many moments of the historic insurrection took place.
