Home. Rental support, over 4 million euros for families in difficulty due to Covid-19

Milan, 19 December 2021 - The Municipality of Milan will have approximately 4 million and 800 thousand euros for "support for the maintenance of rental accommodation on the free market".
The financing is intended for people who have faced economic hardship due to the COVID-19 health emergency.

The resources will be made available in 2022, through a tender that will be published in the coming weeks, and include the recognition of a contribution for the payment of house rent for those who have suffered an unexpected drop in income due to the pandemic.

“A decisive measure to prevent families, who have suddenly found themselves in difficulty due to the pandemic, from incurring eviction procedures and, at the same time, a way to support home owners - declares Pierfrancesco Maran, councilor for housing and to the Neighborhood Plan.

State funds will be distributed and made available in the following ways:

• the provision of a contribution to the owner (even in several tranches) to support the payment of rent not paid or to be paid by the tenant;
• a maximum contribution of up to 8 months' rent and in any case no more than 3 thousand euros per accommodation/contract.

From the beginning of the year to 30 November 2021, through measures to support the maintenance of rental housing on the free market, an amount of 9.912.393 euros was disbursed in Milan between European, state and regional funds which allowed support 6.780 submitted requests.
