Maran: "A step forward to help people, increase sustainability and save energy"

Milan, March 6 2023 – Municipality of Milan and MM launch the "Furniture Project", an opportunity to allow those who live in public housing to replace dated and energy-intensive appliances with new generation appliances.

This will be done through a double action. On the one hand, through an allocation of 400.000 euros decided by the City Council, it was planned to provide a targeted contribution for tenants who decide to replace their household appliances and furnishings (e.g. refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, lighting materials, boilers, hobs and services necessary for installation) with appliances that can guarantee energy savings. On the other hand, a call for tenders has been opened for companies to sign agreements reserved for public housing tenants. The first two companies that joined the project by agreeing on discounts available at points of sale and online stores are Leroy Merlin and Conforama Italia.

As regards the municipal contribution, it is a figure equal to 50% of the total cost incurred, from a minimum of 500 euros up to a maximum of 1.200 euros. The amount may rise up to 1.800 euros for tenants over 65 who have renounced the use of gas or for the benefit of those belonging to the protection and access groups during an officially ordered change of accommodation. Following the presentation of the invoice, expenses incurred in the 90 days before and after the date of publication will be eligible to receive the contribution. The contribution, paid directly into the applicant's current account, will be granted according to the chronological order of the requests presented until the resources are exhausted.

In fact, we will allow many tenants to replace old furniture and appliances with new, more ecologically sustainable equipment that will reduce consumption with significant savings for families".

"MM has long been engaged in maintenance activities (110% Superbonus, interventions on facades, roofs, systems) aimed at the redevelopment of the residential building stock it manages, also with the aim of guaranteeing greater energy efficiency and therefore greater savings for tenants – declares Corrado Bina, director of the MM Home Division –. The initiatives we are presenting today are particularly important because tenants can obtain significant direct benefits, with positive consequences on families' energy bills".

As regards the partnerships with Leroy Merlin and Conforama Italia, tenants will receive a discount code directly on their bill which they can activate independently and use at the points of sale and online stores of the two companies.
