Councilor Maran: "Unacceptable episode, further checks underway"

Milan, October 5 2022 – The Municipality of Milan, in collaboration with Redo SGR, has terminated the rental contract at an agreed rent in an apartment in the Merezzate district in via Eugenio Colorni 4.

The irregular use of the property, sold for tourist and temporary rentals, emerged last week after the publication of some advertisements on the Airbnb platform.

The Municipality of Milan immediately started the control procedures through full collaboration with Redo SGR, the company that manages the properties in Merezzate dedicated to rentals at an agreed rent, and it emerged that the apartment had been used irregularly by the tenant in over the last few months.

For this reason it was decided to proceed with the termination of the contract. An investigation is currently underway on another case in which the apartment in question was purchased by the tenant at an agreed price and then rented irregularly for tourist and short-term rentals.

"We decided to intervene immediately because we believe the irregular use of the apartments intended for rent at a discounted rate or for sale by agreement is unacceptable – explains Pierfrancesco Maran, councilor for housing –. It is an affair that violates the rules and spirit of housing social, which is why we will keep our attention high if new cases emerge."
