Milan, 1 January 2022 – Happy 2022 to the whole city from the operations center of the Local Police. This morning the deputy mayor of Milan, Anna Scavuzzo together with the councilor for Security Marco Granelli and the commander of the local police, Marco Ciacci, went to via Beccaria to meet the officers on duty and offer the traditional greetings to all the patrols on the street happy new year.

“Many best wishes to you who are on duty now, to those who preceded you in the night and to those who will continue on this day at the beginning of the year,” Deputy Mayor Scavuzzo said into the microphone connected to the patrol radios. “I offer you the greetings of Mayor Sala and the entire Administration, together with my staff and that of Councilor Granelli who is here with me today. I thank you for the work done on this night of celebration, precious and attentive, and for the work throughout the year, which accompanied both the most difficult moments experienced by the city and the moments in which we slowly returned to populate our streets and our squares, where we returned to work and school, where culture began to bring beauty again and Milan began to attract people from other cities again. This is the Milan that we are and that we want to be again. In this - continued the Deputy Mayor - your role has been and will be crucial. As we also shared here in the operations center with your colleagues, it is certainly important to make you feel like an attentive presence, making the words of Archbishop Mario Delpini our own: I invite you to 'do it with kindness', with strength and firmness where serves, but always with kindness. I hope you continue to be a presence that brings trust and makes our city feel that respect for the rules is necessary for everyone's well-being, it is part of the common good. I would like to dedicate a thought and a thank you to all those who have joined the vaccination process with a sense of responsibility and also to those who have done so despite some concerns. Thank you. Such a widespread vaccination response is important and allows us to strengthen everyone's defense against the virus. The President of the Republic Mattarella, in last night's speech to Paese, had important words on this issue and I believe it is an invitation to the responsibility that we share. Finally - concluded Anna Scavuzzo - I address a thought to your families, your loved ones, your loved ones. Best wishes for serenity to them too."

In terms of services to the city, since the early hours of this first day of the year Amsa has been busy throughout the city with around 100 teams sweeping, cleaning, emptying bins and removing waste.

AMSA, in coordination with the Local Police, followed up on reports relating to various neighborhoods in Milan and cleaning operations were carried out in the most frequented areas at night such as Piazza Duomo, the Darsena and the Navigli.
