New Year's. Activities Local police, public transport, waste collection for a safe New Year's Eve

Milan, 30 December 2021 – Municipality of Milan, local police, ATM and AMSA will be present on New Year's Eve to guarantee the protection of the city and important services for citizens.

Reinforced measures and controls, as also established by the Provincial Committee for public order and safety which is held weekly in the Prefecture, also by the local police who work in close collaboration with all the law enforcement agencies for the protection of the city and compliance with the anti-Covid regulations which also concern New Year's Eve.

"The increase in infections due to the pandemic unfortunately forces us to have a New Year's Eve with new prohibitions – declares Marco Granelli, Councilor for Security –. The Municipality has taken action to ensure that it can pass safely, with special presences and safeguards. We recommend citizens to respect of the rules, the extraordinary ones and those that concern safety on the road, exploding barrels or driving while intoxicated is not only prohibited but above all very dangerous. My best wishes for happy holidays to all citizens and in particular to those who work these days ".

On tomorrow 31 December, 62 external emergency patrols will be active in external emergency service, furthermore specific services have been underway for a few days by the anti-illegal and ration unit to control the sale of fireworks and other products related to Christmas and New Year's. Furthermore, the police headquarters at the headquarters in via Beccaria will always be operational and civil protection is active for any interventions.

The emergency response system of the local police will focus above all on the detection of road accidents as well as on policing the city. In this regard, we would like to remind you that driving while intoxicated, in addition to being a crime, is very dangerous and the night of the 31st is unfortunately characterized by precisely this type of accident.

Please also remember that in Milan the explosion of barrels, fireworks and firecrackers is prohibited from 1 October to 31 March, to reduce PM10, contribute to improving air quality and respect animal welfare.

On the evening of December 31st and throughout January 1st it will be possible to travel by public transport, but remember that to get on the vehicles you will need an Ffp2 mask and a Green pass. For details on timetables you can download the app or connect to ATM site.

As regards waste collection, tomorrow all collection and cleaning services scheduled in the city will be regular but on Saturday 1 January the paper and cardboard, plastic and metal, glass, wet and undifferentiated collection service will be suspended and will instead be carried out on Sunday 2 January for all fractions excluding domestic waste. Wet waste collection will always be guaranteed for large users with night service. The city's recycling centers are closed on New Year's Eve.

AMSA has also planned from the first hours of the new year the presence of sweeping teams who will intervene where necessary and in the event of reports of anomalous situations.
