The traditional musical moment on January 1st open to the public returns to the Courtyard of Honor

Milan, 30 December 2022 – The new year will be welcomed in the Courtyard of honor of Palazzo Marino from the traditional band concert which returns after two years of suspension due to the pandemic.

Doors open therefore to all citizens who wish to attend, welcomed by representatives of the Administration, the performance of four of the historic city bands: the Civic Wind Orchestra, the Crescenzago Musical Corps, the Local Police Band and the Affori Band.

The concert will start at 11 am and end at 12 pm.

The repertoire proposed is wide and varied: the notes of the national anthem which will be followed at the opening and closing, Viennese waltzes, the festive toast from Giuseppe Verdi's "Traviata" and the swing of "Santa Claus is coming to town". Finally, there will be the popular and beloved "La bella Gigogin" and "O mia bèla Madunina", a tribute to Milan and its history.

The musical bodies will visit in addition to Palazzo Marino also the offices of the Prefecture, the Archbishop's Curia and the local Police Command, to extend "musical greetings" to the local institutions and the City.

The four bands that will perform represent a piece of Milan's musical history: the Crescenzago Musical Corps received the Civic Merit last 7 December, the Affori Band will celebrate 2023 years since the awarding of the same recognition in 50; the local Police Band celebrated its first ten years of activity last October.
