Milan, September 28 2021 – Food and climate change, young people talk about it as protagonists at BASE Milano. From Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd October, Room 1400 of the cultural center in via Bergognone 34 will host the Feed your future!, three days of meetings, workshops and artistic contents coordinated by young people and aimed above all at the new generations to raise awareness and activate citizens on themes of sustainability and climate change, just as Milan hosts the Pre-COP 26 work, in view of the Glasgow Climate Conference in November.

The central theme of the event is the connection between food production and consumption, on the one hand, and climate change, on the other: according to data from the FAO and Eat-Lancet report, food production and consumption are responsible for up to 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions and 70% of freshwater consumption, and a sustainable diet can significantly reduce the social cost of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

The boys and girls will talk about it: those who are part of the communities active for the environment, those of the Street actions that are bringing events to the city's neighborhoods, those involved in the Food wave network. A path started some time ago by the Municipality of Milan which, thanks to the project financed by the European Commission, has started and is carrying forward a dialogue with young people on the green and sustainable future of cities (there are 16 international cities involved in the Food wave project and 13 civil society organizations).

The Feed your future! event, promoted by the Municipality of Milan and ActionAid Italia, in collaboration with Acra, Cinemambiente, Milano film festival, ReLondon, Young film academy and Threes productions, will offer a calendar full of meetings, workshops, but also artistic performances , projections and music (complete program).

There will be space for debates and round tables with the involvement of speakers and experts, workshops in which to move from theory to practice, first viewings and artistic and musical performances. Even Street actions, protagonists in recent weeks of participatory events in the neighborhoods (photo), they will talk about themselves through images, videos and stories of their different experiences.

And the winning associations of the Street Actions tender will continue their activities in the neighborhoods in the coming days.

On Saturday 2 October, at 15pm, thanks to the Milano City forest community, a symbolic walk-parade will start from Piazzale Ferrara and arrive at the regenerated land of Via Vaiano Valle (where the collective planting of 10 October will take place) crossing the fields that border the Vettabbia. It will be a "moving forest", because each participant will have with them one of the thousand plants given up for adoption during the project.

On Sunday 3 October, the Genealogies of the Future - Urban Ecosophie project will carry out a performative eco-walk with poetic and sound interventions, starting at 14pm from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts (via Brera, 28) and arriving at the Vettabbia Park (via dell'Assunta, 24). A real participatory conversation across the city.
