Water bottles for 100 thousand students in Milan

The Mayor and Councilors deliver the Administration's green gift on the occasion of the start of the school year

Milan, September 12 2019 - An aluminum bottle for water. It is with this gift from the municipal administration, in collaboration with A2A, MM and Milano Ristorazione, that the school year began on Thursday 12 September for children and young people attending primary and lower secondary schools in Milan .

Objective of the initiative: to involve young people in building a green conscience and contribute with concrete actions - starting with reducing the use of plastic bottles - to protecting the environment.

"We have calculated that thanks to the use of these water bottles in Milan there could be 30 million fewer bottles per year", explained Mayor Giuseppe Sala to the approximately 50 "before" children of the A. Scarpa Comprehensive Institute in via Clericetti 22, to whom he personally donated the first water bottles.

A total of 100 thousand water bottles were distributed in schools - including private and private schools - in the city: 60 thousand are intended for primary schools and 40 thousand for lower secondary schools.

"The Mayor's water is good and costs very little so I invite you to drink it in your homes", added Mayor Sala, accompanied by singer Marco Mengoni. "The school has a fundamental educational and civic role - concluded Sala -: it is the ideal place in which to address the environmental issue".

Even the Deputy Mayor and councilors were in various schools in Milan to bring gifts for the young students and thus wish everyone a good start to the school year.

In particular, the Deputy Mayor Anna Scavuzzo went to the Sacred Heart in via Rombon, the Councilor for Education Laura Galimberti to the De Nicola school, the Councilor for Urban Planning Pierfrancesco Maran to Ciresola, the Councilor for Digital Transformation Roberta Cocco to the Graf, the Councilor for Labor Policies Cristina Tajani at the Andersen Institute, the Councilor for Sport and Tourism Roberta Guaineri in Paravia, the Councilor for Mobility and Public Works Marco Granelli in Monte Velino and the Councilor for Culture Filippo Del Corno at the Feraboli primary school.
