Milan, August 2 2022 – The Municipality of Milan has defined the deadlines for payments of this year's waste tax. The 2022 Tari can be paid by 23 December in a single payment or in two instalments, the first by 9 December and the second by 31 January 2023. Payment notices will be available in the citizen's digital file and sent to the people of Milan between September and November.

This year the TARI tariffs decrease compared to 2021 by 4% for domestic users and by approximately 3,5% for non-domestic users. There are two reasons behind the reduction: the drop in the cost of the service provided by AMSA for almost one million euros and an increase in utilities and domestic surfaces subject to tax, which is therefore "spread" over a greater number of taxable square meters . Taxpayers are growing both due to the assessments carried out by the Municipality and the activation of new users: domestic ones were less than 738.000 in 2021, this year in May they were over 745.000.

With the end of the state of emergency for Covid-19, the concessions linked to the pandemic were interrupted, which last year had led to a 50% reduction in the variable part of the tariff for some domestic users. This year, the exemptions and concessions that were valid in 2019 are guaranteed, such as the 25% cut in the variable part of the tariff for families of four or more people.
