Participatory budgeting. The reorganization of Piazzale Gobetti is underway
The construction site of the "Agorà Gobetti" project of Municipality 3 starts from via Salieri
Milan, September 25 2021 - Work will begin next week for the implementation of the Participatory Budget project of Municipality 3 "Agorà Gobetti" for the redevelopment and valorisation of Piazza Gobetti and Via Salieri.
The project involves a series of interventions with the aim of making the square more livable starting from the redevelopment of the central green area, already subject to the enhancement of public lighting which took place in 2019: with the enhancement of the pedestrian path which will be green and tree-lined , in line with the axis that from via Porpora crosses the gardens and continues in via Salieri, arriving in piazza Bottini, Lambrate station, the greenery and commercial activities will thus be more accessible, road safety and the permeability of the neighborhood will improve with new pedestrian crossings to encourage social activities and neighborhood commerce.
The paths that cross the square will therefore be repaved and a new pedestrian passage will be created. A dog area will also be created, the flooring of the play area and the turf will be renewed, new trees will be inserted, and some seats will be added.
The redevelopment of the road and sidewalks of Piazza Gobetti is also envisaged with their widening, increasing and securing pedestrian crossings to make the central and green part of the square more usable and accessible, the modification of the road geometries to limit the speed of car. The project also involves the redevelopment of Via Salieri, again with the widening of the sidewalks, also encouraging the presence of commercial businesses and the provision of trees and flowerbeds. Bicycle racks will be positioned and motorcycle spaces will be increased.
For the first few weeks the works will only affect the green area and the sidewalks of Piazza Gobetti at the corner of Gobetti/Porpora, green side, therefore no changes to the road system are foreseen. The completion of the works is scheduled for next spring.
