New software and new site for fixed-bay sharing bikes

Milan, March 9 2021 – BikeMi, Clear channel's fixed-bay bicycle sharing, is renewed and becomes smarter. Thanks to a new app, which becomes the main tool for accessing the service, it will be possible to collect bikes directly from your smartphone without necessarily using the card which however remains active. The website is also new, with renewed graphics that offer all the necessary information in just a few clicks. The instant messaging system is also arriving, available on the app and website, to receive support and assistance from customer service.

The new software represents an important milestone for BikeMi which continues to be a fundamental point of reference for Milan's mobility thanks to its peculiarities and its characteristic of being an eco-sustainable and safe means of transport.

"We are at the end of winter and in recent months the daily average of bicycles that have traveled along the Oberdan/Buenos Aires cycle route has stood at around 5 thousand cyclists – declares Marco Granelli, councilor for Mobility – a sign that two wheels are today a means of daily transport to go to work, school or run errands. BikeMi has long been an efficient ally of these habits: flexible, fast, well distributed and now equipped with a technological system that simplifies its use even more" .

Clear channel Italia, which has always been attentive to technological innovation and user needs, strongly wanted this renewal with the aim of making BikeMi increasingly innovative and performing.

"We are very proud to be able to present a completely renewed service to the city of Milan – comments Eszter Sallai, Managing Director of Clear channel Italia. As Clear channel we particularly care about the community in which we operate. Our mission, to be a platform for brands and a platform for good, is to satisfy the needs of advertisers with tailor made solutions, but also to be a company at the service of society. BikeMi, of which we have been managers for over 10 years, is an example of this. The service is in fact partly financed by revenues from our advertising systems. Our commitment in the territory is an absolute priority and on this topic we have just launched the 'Advertising for the city' project in collaboration with Audioutdoor, IGPDecaux and Ipas which aims to highlight how important out-of-home advertising is because it contributes to financing mobility and services for citizens".

The new system was developed in collaboration with Urban sharing, one of the most important software houses in Europe specializing in sharing mobility.

"We are proud to make our platform available to the largest bike sharing system in Italy and one of the most advanced in Europe - declares Kristian Brink, CEO of Urban sharing -. Milan is one of the most cutting-edge European cities in in the field of shared mobility, the implementation of the BikeMi software makes the bike sharing station based in Milan one of the most innovative in Europe. Thanks to the collaboration with the institutions, the new platform will make BikeMi an example of functionality and integrated mobility capable of competing on an international level".

In the coming months Clear channel has foreseen further developments that will make BikeMi even more versatile and widespread throughout the territory. BikeMi has been present in the city since 2008 with 320 stations and a fleet that includes 4.280 muscle pedal bicycles and 1.150 pedal assisted bicycles, of which 150 equipped with child seats. It has always been considered an indispensable service because it is perfectly integrated into the city's public transport network.
