Libraries. The Crescenzago district reopens to the public from Monday 26 April

The redevelopment work on the roof, furnishings and garden and safety measures have been completed. A new section dedicated to psychology will also be inaugurated

Milan, 20 April 2021 – Waterproofing of the roof, renewed furnishings, tactile flooring for the visually impaired, arrangement of the internal garden, new bathrooms, painting, internal windows and doors and bringing all systems up to standard: the Crescenzago district library reopens to the public from Monday 26 April after a series of interventions necessary to guarantee maximum safety for citizens and workers and to improve use by users.

Built in 1980, the library in Viale Don Luigi Orione, in Municipality 2, was inaugurated in 1987 and since then it has been a point of reference for the entire neighbourhood, not only as a meeting place and social hub but also for the richness of the book and audio-video material available, especially in foreign languages. On the occasion of the reopening to the public, a new section dedicated to psychology will be inaugurated, purchased during the period of closure of the library for the works, which will be implemented and updated in the future.

"We have invested many resources in recent years for interventions in libraries with the aim of guaranteeing maximum safety for the workers who work there and for the citizens who frequent them - declared the councilors Filippo Del Corno (Culture) and Marco Granelli (Public works) –. Furthermore, these works, specifically, have also allowed for an efficiency improvement of the internal spaces, with the expansion of functions and services and a better use of the open spaces and the garden".

The Crescenzago library will reopen to the public at the following times:

  • Monday 14:00 ÷ 19:00;
  • Tuesday 10:00 ÷ 14:30;
  • Wednesday 14:00 ÷ 19:00;
  • Thursday 10:00 ÷ 14:30;
  • Friday 14:00 ÷ 19:00.

Pending new government provisions, the Crescenzago library will remain closed to the public on Saturday, in order to allow the appropriate gradualness, and therefore the necessary safety, of the reopening to the public.
