Welcome back to the museum! From 2 to 7 March, a week of museum openings and exhibitions, special initiatives and the fifth edition of Museocity entitled "Museums take care of the city"

Milan, February 24 2021 – "Welcome back to the museum!": this is the invitation and meaning of the special initiative for Milanese art and culture, promoted by the Municipality of Milan | Culture, which will take place throughout the next week, from 2 to 7 March, involving the whole city.
The reopening of renovated museums, such as the Museum of the Twentieth Century and the Museum of Natural History; that of museums closed since November 4th, such as the Prada Foundation; the inauguration of new exhibitions, at Palazzo Reale and in other exhibition venues; and the fifth edition of "Milano Museocity", this year with a title particularly evocative of the urgency of a resumption of cultural activities for the well-being of the entire community: "Museums take care of the city".

"Reclaiming the heritage, returning to direct contact with beauty and establishing the awareness that keeping places of art and culture open, planning and supporting the commitment of the city's public and private operators, is a necessity that can no longer be postponed: these are the reasons and objectives of the program of initiatives that will take place in the week from 2 to 7 March, which we thought of as a celebration for the city, but which we know is actually a cure for our community, as is rightly the title of the new edition of Museocity underlines - declares the councilor for Culture Filippo Del Corno -. A party in which not only civic institutes participate, but also many Milanese institutions, which in recent months have shared concerns and strategies for the cultural rebirth of the city".

In fact, from 2 March, for the first time since 4 November, the Museum of the Twentieth Century, the Museum of Natural History, the Prada Foundation and WOW Comic Space will reopen.

The Museo del Novecento presents itself to the public with a renewed itinerary thanks to the reorganization of two entire floors of the Arengario. The new rooms, also renewed in their internal design, represent a different story of art from the 1920s to the 1950s, enriched by the works of artists who were missing from the previous exhibition itinerary despite their centrality in the history of that period - such as Burri, Pomodoro, Vedova – and by new "dialogues" and scans of the exhibition itinerary. The Natural History Museum also reopens on March 2 with the renovated Mineralogy section, which features new layouts and a new lighting project, displaying around 600 samples from the museum's collection, one of the most important in Europe. In the rooms dedicated to temporary exhibitions there is an exhibition dedicated to the figure of Ettore Artini (1866-1928), who was a university professor of Mineralogy and, from 1912 to 1928, Director of the Natural History Museum. The Museum website is also completely new. Comunicato stampa
