Confiscated assets. The Administration wants to acquire four homes to be allocated to the housing emergency

Rabaiotti: “We will check whether they can be made available to families who have lost their homes”

Milan, July 28 2019 - The Municipality intends to forward a request, through a formal expression of interest, for the free acquisition of four real estate units confiscated from organized crime. These are small apartments, between 43 and 47 square metres, which are all located in the building in via Lancetti 24.

The request will be formalized at the National Agency for the Administration and destination of assets confiscated and seized from organized crime (Anbsc). The use of the four apartments, if they are given to the Administration, will be linked to social uses, as always in these cases, through direct management or free concession assignment to associations, foundations and cooperatives in the sector.

"The first evaluation we will make - hypothesizes the councilor for social and housing policies Gabriele Rabaiotti - is to verify whether they have the adequate characteristics to respond to emergency situations, or whether they can be allocated to families who in Milan have lost their homes due to eviction or foreclosure".

To date, the real estate units confiscated and managed by the Department of Social and Housing Policies are 201, including apartments, warehouses, garages, laboratories, cellars and parking spaces. Seventeen have long since entered the list of public residential buildings and were therefore assigned to people who had applied for public housing. All the units, however, have already been returned to city life, mostly becoming reception centers for families who, for various reasons, find themselves in difficulty, thus responding to their housing needs supported by a path to support social reintegration .
