Milan, May 18 2021 – "An anomalous traveler between the frontiers of musical languages, Franco Battiato embodied the shamanic power of sound in representing universal myths and prophecies, and he did so through very different forms in terms of semantic consistency and cultural tradition, from songwriting to opera, from electronic experimentation to acoustic research. His death is very sad news for all those who followed and loved him; from today his authorial work, separated from the identification with his charisma as an interpreter, requires consideration in all its articulated complexity, starting from the rediscovery and performance of those scores that over the years have accompanied his most popular successes, in a counterpoint of ideas and practices truly unique in the world".
Thus the Councilor for Culture Filippo Del Corno commented on the passing of Franco Battiato.
