Milan, January 24 2023 – "Now it's your turn" arrives in Milan, an artistic installation by "Inside out", a project by the French artist JR who gives life to monumental and participatory public works of art all over the world.

Promoted by the Municipality of Milan and Arts_for, the project is carried out in collaboration with the Museo del Novecento, the Art Office in public spaces and Municipality 4, thanks to the support and active participation of the Amplifon Foundation.

After having carried out actions in the main cities of the world and obtained numerous international recognitions, "Inside out" arrives in Milan with a new installation which - from 31 January to 14 February - will embrace the Arengario in Piazza Duomo, home of the Museo del Novecento, and the twin building, a future extension of the museum itself, covering the facades of the buildings with a mosaic of faces. "Inside out" will also arrive on February 3rd in Municipality 4, where the external walls of the RSA "Spouses and Ferrari", in via dei Cinquecento, will be covered with more than 100 mega portraits of the guests of the structure, photographed by the students of the Academy of Brera.

The aim of the installations is to give a voice to the elderly, in the aftermath of a page in history marked by a harsh period of isolation, and to raise public awareness of the importance of their role and of the comparison between different generations. To achieve this, a thousand portraits were created - which will be exhibited in Piazza Duomo on a surface area of 700 m2020 - of elderly guests of forty Italian RSAs (Health Residences for the Elderly) who are part of "Ciao!", the project launched in XNUMX by the Foundation Amplifon to support the improvement of the quality of life of elderly men and women and which has reached one hundred and fifty structures over the course of these over two years.

Starting from May 2022, for approximately six months, the students of the photography course at the Brera Academy visited forty Italian RSAs, to meet the elderly guests and involve them in the project. During the visits, the photographic portraits that will make up the installation were created together with portraits of some elderly men and women from the Vividown association and the Community of Sant'Egidio as well as the faces of some Ukrainian refugees welcomed in Moldova by the High Commission of United Nations as part of a joint project with the Amplifon Foundation.

The photographs visible on the walls of the buildings of the Museum of the Twentieth Century and on the second arengario will be set up on scaffolding covered with micro-perforated PVC sheets, overlooking Piazza Duomo and Via Marconi. The installation work began at the Arengario on 23 January, while in the RSA in via dei Cinquecento the posters will be put up by Fondazione Amplifon volunteers during the morning of 3 February (from 10am to 12pm), giving the city the faces and stories of the elderly guests of the facilities.
