Milan, September 14 2020 – Design innovative and temporary street furniture capable of redesigning the public spaces of cities, starting from squares, addressing the new challenges regarding mobility while respecting the rules related to social distancing.

This is the objective of FURNISH, the EIT Urban mobility funded project in which the Municipality of Milan participates, through a consortium led by CARNET together with UPC · Barcelonatech, Barcelona School of design and engineering (Elisava), Institute for advanced architecture of Catalonia (IAAC ) and AMAT.

This is a European-wide call aimed at Fab labs, research groups, designers, digital artisans formed into teams who want to work on rapid solutions to the problems and opportunities linked to the need to redesign public spaces. The call includes the selection of seven working groups that will take part in a series of guided virtual workshops that will lead to the creation of innovative street furniture prototypes, providing temporary mobile urban elements to reconfigure squares and areas of the city.

Team applications must be received by September 25th via the site https://furnish.tech. Once selected, teams will have two months to produce their prototypes. The process will end in December 2020, when all results and materials created will be published on the Open innovation platform and made available free of charge for use anywhere in the world.
