Milan, March 16 2020 – “The period of contingent emergency, due to the spread of the Coronavirus, is having an unexpected and limiting impact on everyone's lives. Many interventions have been planned to support the human population and also the animals that constitute the corporate assets of the livestock facilities. However, we cannot forget the animals that live in the city: in families, in shelters or free in the area - write the Guarantors for the protection of animals of the Municipality of Milan Paola Fossati and Gustavo Gandini in a message -. In particular, dogs and cats continue to keep us company and everyone, even those who don't live in our homes, continues to need someone to take care of them."

“The kennels and catteries – continue the Guarantors – do not stop their activity, for the well-being of the animals. They are essential public services, required by law. The reception of abandoned or seized animals will continue, in compliance with appropriate health measures."

All information for the public is available on the website www.parcocanilemilano.it and on the Facebook page @ParcoCanileMI.

“We must also continue to take care of the cat colonies – Fossati and Gandini continue -. For this reason, the work of the tutors of the cat colonies cannot stop, who will continue to carry out the public service entrusted to them by law".
The Guarantor's Office has prepared a form for their movements aimed at bringing food to the cats in the colonies of Milan. The authorities responsible for the checks will take into account the essential service that the tutors perform, in compliance with national and regional laws as well as the municipal regulation for the protection and welfare of animals in Milan.

“While waiting for this emergency to end soon – conclude Fossati and Gandini – we all want to work together to do everything possible to guarantee the protection of our society, including the animals who, living in the city, are a full part of it. By heartily thanking all the operators and volunteers who, by continuing to carry out their serious and precious work, guarantee the life and well-being of the animals, we confirm our constant attention to the evolution of events".
