Councilor Romani: "Another step to improve citizens' experience within the offices of essential services"

Milan, January 2 2022 – The Municipality of Milan, thanks to an agreement with the company Dedem SpA, has installed, within the Registry Office in Via Larga and the remaining twelve registry offices, fifteen automatic booths dedicated to the CIE Photo service (Electronic Identity Card).

This service allows the acquisition of the photo already validated, i.e. compliant with the International civil aviation organization (ICAO) parameters aimed at increasing the security levels within the entire identity card issuing system, with a consequent speeding up of everything the process.

Once the photo has been "taken" inside the Dedem booth, it is automatically uploaded, in digital format, into the computer system. Instead, the citizen is issued a printout on which, in addition to the photo, there is a code - both bar and alphanumeric - which simply needs to be handed over to the registry service operator. By acquiring this code you will be able to instantly download the corresponding digital photo from the server, sized and validated according to standards and therefore immediately ready to be inserted into the document and into the file.

"Thanks to this collaboration - explains the councilor for civic and general services Gaia Romani - we obtain not only a speeding up of times for the citizen but also a consequent productivity benefit for the offices. Through this system, in fact, some critical issues related to the traditional method which involves scanning the paper photo and subsequent manual adaptation. A method which often involves long waiting times, with the risk that the photo loses quality or does not comply with the validation criteria imposed by the ICAO regulation and the system CIE. Step by step and with small revolutions - concludes councilor Romani - we improve the experience of the citizens who interface with the Public Administration and in particular with the offices of essential services".

This process guarantees a speeding up of the CIE issuing phase and the total safety of the use of the photo for the citizen, eliminating the manual scanning, resizing and centering phase.
