Tajani: ”Affianchiamo con piacere tutte le iniziative, come questa di WePlanet, che possono contribuire a migliorare l’educazione ambientale e il rispetto per il pianeta”

Milan, 2 April 2021 – Sono stati posati in piazza Duomo (lato Carminati) i primi globi d’artista per sensibilizzare i milanesi sui temi del cambiamento climatico e l'uso delle plastiche inquinanti. Dal 3 al 5 aprile saranno esposte le prime 50 opere di “WePlanet – 100 globi per un futuro sostenibile”, un’istallazione che costituisce l’anteprima “en plein air” della kermesse ufficiale che si svolgerà dal 27 agosto al 7 novembre 2021 nelle principali vie e piazze del capoluogo lombardo e di altre città. L’evento è patrocinato dal Comune di Milano, oltre che dalla Regione Lombardia e dal Ministero dell’Ambiente.

“Grazie a questo progetto d’arte diffusa - commenta l’assessora alle Politiche per il lavoro, Attività produttive e Commercio Cristina Tajani -, ambiente, design e innovazione si fondono contribuendo ad ampliare le azioni avviate dall’Amministrazione a sostegno di un'economia sempre più circolare e sostenibile, oltre a sensibilizzare i milanesi al rispetto del pianeta e delle sue risorse. Come Amministrazione affianchiamo con piacere tutte le iniziative, come questa di WePlanet, che possono supportare una sempre più ampia educazione ambientale per un maggior rispetto del pianeta”.

The globes, made from recycled plastic, are designed and created by young artists from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and by famous artists and designers who have interpreted the themes and values ​​of sustainability using the large spherical support, symbol of our planet, as a canvas.

The WePlanet project, exploiting the ability of art and creativity to stimulate a critical conscience, aims to contribute to bringing the urgency of facing the sustainable transition to the center of the debate of institutions, operators and individual citizens as well as reiterating how crucial it is the individual role in the process of healing the planet and support the achievement of the 17 global goals of the United Nations (SDGs - United Nations). The 50 globes exhibited in the preview in Piazza Duomo, among the hundred under construction, will each be the messenger of the most stringent and significant issues and sustainable development objectives dictated by the UN 2030 Agenda: from the urban environment to life on earth and underwater; from the migration of peoples to clean and accessible energy; from zero hunger to the circular economy, passing through research, science and the health of humanity.

Several well-known names have joined the initiative: among these the designers Giulio Cappellini and Antonio Facco who sign the installation "Milan is beautiful" dedicated to the city, and Michele De Lucchi, co-author of "Pangea Mondo sewn", a globe inspired by the theory of plate tectonics made in collaboration with the guys from the ONLUS iSemprevivi.

Terminata l’iniziativa, i 100 globi saranno battuti ad un'asta benefica organizzata da Sotheby's e il ricavato sarà devoluto a ForestaMi, in particolare all'Associazione Parco Segantini ONLUS, all'Ospedale Niguarda e alla Fondazione Umberto Veronesi per la ricerca scientifica d'eccellenza contro i tumori, e alla Fondazione Arca ONLUS che opera a sostegno dei poveri per l’assistenza e l’ integrazione.
