Alpines. In the Gallery a plaque celebrates 100 years of the foundation

Milan, July 8 2019 - The plaque dedicated to the 100 years of the National Alpine Association was unveiled this afternoon in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

Born on 8 July 1919, the ANA was founded by some veterans of the First World War right in the Galleria, in the premises of the then Caffè Grande Italia, the first headquarters of the association. The plaque was placed, in fact, in correspondence with those spaces that today house the Rizzoli bookshop.

The Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala and the president of the National Alpini Association Sebastiano Favero spoke at the ceremony.

The long history of solidarity and generosity of the Alpine troops is summarized in a simple and direct message: "In this place on 8 July 1919 the national Alpine Association 'Not to forget' was established", we read on the plaque.

This afternoon's ceremony seals the celebrations of the centenary of the Alpini which began with the Gathering that Milan had the honor of hosting last May.
