Milan, June 17 2019 – The second edition of “Parco delle cultures” will take place from 21st to 23rd June, the event created last year by the Municipality of Milan, conceived and promoted by Triennale Milano.

The initiative, which saw its first edition last September 30th, enriches the Milanese summer calendar with a "three days" of free events which have as their stage Burri's Teatro Continuo, created by the artist in 1973 in the heart of the Sempione Park: events, concerts, workshops and guided tours, for adults and children, organized by the various institutions that "overlook" the park: Civic Aquarium, Sempione Park Library, Sforzesco Castle, Musical Afternoons, Piccolo Teatro di Milan, Triennale Milan. Each of the entities participating in "Parco delle Culture" proposes initiatives and projects in line with their own activity, which come together in a program in which art, theatre, music, science and literature dialogue with each other.

On Friday 21 June, the day opens at dawn with a yoga class to greet the sun on the "International Yoga Day". In the evening, two shows are offered, respectively circus and contemporary dance: “A jump high” by the Circo no Ato company and “I wandered lonely as a cloud” by Matteo Bittante.

Saturday 22 June, the morning is dedicated to awakening the body and mind with a dynamic yoga and meditation lesson. Afterwards, a visit to the Civic Aquarium with the curator Nicoletta Ancona is scheduled. Furthermore, Gabi Scardi, art critic and curator, proposes a visit to the works of art and architecture present in the Sempione Park, many of which were created on the occasion of past international Triennale exhibitions.

In the afternoon there are two events for children dedicated to the figure of Leonardo da Vinci, organized by the Sempione Park Library: the readings "I dreamed of flying" and the workshop "Flying machines. From Leonardo's genius to drones". Immediately afterwards, the botanist Enrico Banfi and the landscape architect Filippo Pizzoni accompany us from the Teatro Continuo to the Castello Sforzesco to analyze the historical-botanical and landscape aspect of the mulberry pergola painted by Leonardo da Vinci in the Sala delle Asse.

In the evening the Teatro Continuo returns to be the protagonist of the "Park of Cultures" hosting the show "A Salto Alto" followed by the Flamenco performance "Libre" by María Moreno. Stella Chiweshe, a musician from Zimbabwe, performs playing a traditional instrument of the Shona people and, at the end of the evening, a DJ set. Both of these two events are curated by Thress.

The morning of Sunday 23 June will be completely dedicated to children. The "A tutto Sole" initiative includes readings at the Teatro Continuo for children and teenagers aged 6 to 11, followed by the playful-experimental laboratory "Light adventure" to discover colours, transparencies, fluorescence, iridescence and other surprising effects of light solar. “The Flight Code” is a show in English for the whole family, dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci and his dream. For adults, together with the curators Claudio Composti and Elisabetta Polezzo, a visit to the photographic exhibition “Gill Rigoulet. Molitor 85” at the Civic Aquarium of Milan. In the afternoon Francesco Garolfi performs in the musical performance "WILD" which proposes the concept of the artist's instrumental album of the same name. At the end of the evening, the classical music concert "Allegro lively" with the Pomeriggi musicali orchestra.

All appointments within the "Parco delle Culture" are free, reservations are required for the "Flying Machines" and "Light Adventure" workshops (T. +39 02 88465812).
