“Milan is alive”. The summer of entertainment at the Sforzesco Castle starts on July 12th, with 58 events from July 12th to September 10th

The popular music of Davide van de Sfroos opens the season, Patti Smith's concert inaugurates August in Milan and the grand finale of the festival is celebrated with Elisa  Milan, June 21 2022 – Pop music, electronic, jazz, classical, musicals, theatre, dance, shows for children: the program of the new show season in the Cortile delle Armi of the Castello Sforzesco, promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Milan as part of the “Milan is Viva”, will come alive this year with 58 live shows, from 12 July to 10 September.  With many free shows (over ten) and about half at a controlled price (with a ticket less than or equal to 15 euros), this year the event was able to count on a larger audience, which has expanded from the 1.500 seats of previous years to 2.300, and was therefore able to include in the program names of great prestige and appeal such as Patti Smith, Elisa, Fiorella Mannoia, Roberto Bolle, Noemi, Samuele Bersani, Nada, Sergio Caputo, Dixon, Le Cannibale and others.  However, the Castello Sforzesco summer festival has not lost its main characteristic, that of representing an open and inclusive vision of all the performing arts, capable of uniting theater, classical music, dance, popular music, comedy, club culture.  The opening is on July 12th with the songs of Davide van De Sfroos, followed by Kokoroko on the 13th with a refined concert that anticipates the next edition of JazzMI. But throughout the two months of programming the music travels between past and present, with many homages to protagonists such as Lucio Battisti, Milva, Franco Battiato, the Beatles, and to genres such as operetta and musicals, passing through Italian songwriting and electronic music. Several events are dedicated to classical music, with concerts by the Milan Symphony Orchestra and the Società dei Concerti, in addition to the "Magic night" dedicated to Chopin and the many genre contaminations that punctuate the entire programme.  Comedy is ensured by the instant theater of Enrico Bertolino and Luca Bottura and by The Pozzolis Family, with Alice Mangione and Gianmarco Pozzoli, while the theater is "interpreted" by Lella Costa with her show "War Tired", from "Storie ” by Stefano Massini, recent winner of five Tony Awards with the show "The Lehman Trilogy", from Gioele Dix and his show “Ai nostri tempi (biblici)”, up to “A small Odyssey” by Andrea Pennacchi.  Dance also finds a place on the programme, which will inhabit the stage of the Castello Sforzesco with open rehearsals and the final show of OnDance 2022, a celebration of all dances in a show made up of great performances and great performers.
