Milan, May 16 2021 – The ninth edition of “Estate Sforzesca” kicks off on Friday 11 June, the music, theater and dance festival promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Milan Department of Culture and Entertainment Area which for the first year has obtained the patronage of the Ministry of Culture . The 2021 edition will also inhabit the fascinating Cortile delle Armi of the Sforzesco Castle thanks to a totally open air stage and audience, with a layout structured according to all the anti-Covid19 measures in force.

“Estate Sforzesca” 2021, like the previous editions, was built on the basis of the proposals received from operators following the call published at the beginning of the year: of the 249 proposals, 80 were accepted which went to make up a rich calendar capable of respond to the many needs of a heterogeneous audience, who have been waiting for months to be able to be spectators of a live performance again.

This year too, “Estate Sforzesca” will be the stage of and for Milan, offering a multidisciplinary calendar at affordable prices, controlled or with free entry, for three consecutive months.

The program (the calendar for the first month is attached) is rich and detailed and includes music shows of all genres: from world music to classical, from cabaret to jazz; but also theater and dance, in collaboration with Teatro Out Off, Teatro Litta, Compagnia Corrado d'Elia, Balletto di Milano, ATIR and Dancehaus.
Among the names, big names like Negrita, Nicolò Fabi, Francesco Bianconi, Colapesce Dimartino, Arto Lindsay, Jonathan Coe, Joe Bastianich+Mattew Leee and Fabio Concato; but also Lo Stato Sociale, Venerus, Le Cannibale and Saturnalia. There are many institutional collaborations - such as the one with the MIC for the Festa della Musica, or with the laVerdi orchestra, the I Pomeriggi Musicali orchestra, Fondazione Cineteca, and with the Civica Orchestra di Fiati - and also many collaborations with other bodies, theatres, exhibitions: among these, the Franco Parenti theatre, the “La Milanesiana” festival, the Società dei Concerti, the “Teatro Alla Scala” Academy, Milano Classica.

“This summer, a different show will be staged every evening in the Cortile delle Armi of the Castello Sforzesco and every citizen will finally be able to get back into the habit of theatre, music and dance. A rediscovered everyday life that we hope will help to remove the stigma of danger that has arisen around places of culture, after the break in recent months - declares the councilor for culture Filippo Del Corno -. Never like this year, always with responsible methods and in absolute safety, we must return to an experience of normality, to be part of that sort of secular assembly which is the live show, from which to recover that sense of sharing, participation, security and trust which is the basis of every community pact”.

Also this edition, like the previous one, will make use of the collaboration of Edison (sponsor), AMAT and Legambiente (partners). Technical sponsor: Mailticket.

Participation in the shows will require reservations, even for shows with free admission, and access to the Cortile delle Armi will be limited: there are over 500 seats in variable configurations and no standing places are available. There is also temperature control at the entrance and physical distancing (with the exception of family groups).
