Milan, May 28 2019 – The 'Baskets in search of an author' competition promoted by A2A, Amsa and the Municipality of Milan has ended: 133 different classes challenged each other in the creative customization of waste separation bins using every type of artistic technique and recycled materials. In the presence of the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo, the councilor for education Laura Galimberti, the president of Amsa Emilia Rio and Yuri Coppi, director of the Territorial School Office of Milan, the awards were given in the Sala Alessi, at Palazzo Marino, the winning classes for each school level: the 2 B of the ICS De Andreis Scuola Meleri (Primary School), the 2 B of the ICS Cadorna Scuola Ricci (Secondary School) and the 3 D LSAM of the IIS Torricelli ( secondary school).

The contest was part of #Ambienteascuola, the awareness project on correct separate waste collection, which started in autumn 2018 with the contribution of the Cial, Comieco, Corepla and Ricrea consortia, which involved around 12.000 students: 3.000 containers for separate waste collection of plastic and metal, paper and cardboard and undifferentiated were delivered to the 11 primary and secondary schools involved, distributed in around thirty school complexes in the nine municipalities of the city. This is a new action to further improve the percentage of separate waste collection which in the Municipality of Milan has reached 62%, a result that places the city at the top among European metropolises.

During the event, hosted by Max Laudadio, some educational videos were presented to raise students' awareness of various environmental issues, from the circular economy to separate waste collection and possible solutions to address the problem of climate change.

As part of the #Ambienteascuola project, over 20 training and information meetings have been scheduled in the schools involved, both for the administrative, technical and auxiliary staff, to illustrate the functioning and promote the correct practices of the assignment, and for the teachers, who are further related educational opportunities were also presented.

The morning was also an opportunity to present the second phase of the project which will start with the new school year and involves the extension of this first project to all the city's state secondary schools and the creation of two completely plastic schools. free.
