#environmentatschool. The last of the three winning murals of the 2019-2020 competition has been inaugurated

We start again this year, in 230 primary schools, with the "Author's Stories" contest

Milan, October 14 2020 – The mural “The dream” was inaugurated today, dedicated to food waste and created by the students of the Teresa Confalonieri school of ICS Barozzi, as part of the #ambienteascuola project, promoted by the Municipality of Milan, A2a and AMSA.

This is the last of the three murals created following the competition created for the 2019-2020 school year, which saw 80 classes from 22 lower secondary schools compete in terms of creativity, to create a sketch of a mural on environmental themes , such as separate waste collection, food waste and climate change. The other two winners of the competition were painted in recent weeks under the expert guidance of the "Vespaio" ecodesigners: "The plastic orca" by the San Giuseppe Institute and "Turn the page" by Ics Don Orione/Da Vinci.

“The sensitivity that students are demonstrating on environmental issues is particularly significant – declare the deputy mayor Anna Scavuzzo and the councilor for Education Laura Galimberti –. The school's task is to accommodate their renewed interest by providing useful stimuli for adopting correct lifestyles and for the dissemination of good practices. This is the objective of the #ambienteascuola project to which the children responded with great enthusiasm and which we hope will continue in the coming years".

The project will continue this school year with the involvement of 230 primary schools in Milan. For the new creative contest, "Author's Tale", classes will be asked to complete the incipit of a story specially written by Guido Quarzo, a well-known author of children's fiction, on the themes of separate waste collection and waste.

The aim of the #ambienteascuola project, since its inception, is to promote in an increasingly widespread way the culture of sustainability, respect for the environment, sustainable use of resources and energy, and the most correct methods for separate waste collection and for the use of urban spaces. The project also intends to achieve some of the 'Sustainable development goals' (SDGs), defined by the United Nations and to be achieved by 2030.
