The President of the Municipality represents the Municipality, convenes and presides over the Municipal Council, supervises the functioning of the Services and Offices and the execution of the acts within the competence of the Municipality.
Furthermore, it exercises the additional functions attributed by the Statute of the Municipality of Milan or delegated by the Mayor, as well as those provided for by the Statute of the Metropolitan City.

Mattia Abdu Ismahil

I was born in Milan in 1981 to a Milanese mother and an Egyptian father, traders in the Garibaldi district.
I graduated in "Urban planning and territorial policies" at the Polytechnic of Milan, the city I have loved since I was a child, passionate about its history, its trams and its canals.
Area Councilor since 2007 and member of the Democratic Party since its birth in 2007, in 2016 I became Councilor of Municipality 1 with the mandates "Urban planning and construction, Commerce and craftsmanship, Local mobility".
For me, dealing with Municipalities and administrative decentralization means building a project to take care of our neighborhoods and support the local community that keeps them alive, taking care of those who live, work, study, walk in the historic centre, with attention to public space and to people's rights.
