Francesca Ulivi

Councilor for Territorial Health, CDD, Social Policies, Personal Services, Sport, Education, State Property, Environmental Policies, CAM

I was born in 1971 in Rome.

I have been a professional journalist for almost thirty years, a manager in the media and the third sector, an advocate for patients' rights and the culture of science.

For over 25 years I worked on television, in many TV stations first local and then national, with a career that culminated in the 2011s with the direction of national news programs and Corporate Social Responsibility of the multinational media company Viacom for Europe, the Middle East and 'Africa (Mtv channels, Nickelodeon, Paramount etc). I was General Manager and member of the Board of Directors of Viacom in Italy. I have won many journalistic and television awards, including the Ilaria Alpi award for best reportage in XNUMX, with "Libya: the boys and the revolution".

I chose Milan in 1995 and never left it, apart from a brief period of work for a few years in London.

In 2011 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune, incurable and degenerative disease and in 2018 I made the decision to leave my job to put myself at the service of the patient community and scientific research.

Since 2020 I have been General Director and Communications of the Italian Diabetes Foundation, I am committed to raising awareness of type 1 diabetes and to raising funds for the search for a definitive cure, providing information support and support to the patient community.

The culture of science and the fight against medical-scientific misinformation and false healers are at the center of my pro bono activities. I am a founding member and Vice President (outgoing due to my recent institutional political commitment) of the Transversal Pact for Science, an association of scientists, professionals and citizens who fights to ensure that political decisions on public health are taken in light of scientific evidence.

I also founded the Italian group #iosonoqui, which is part of the international network of #iamhere, which has 150 thousand digital activists who every day, in 14 countries, act on Facebook to stop hate speech and fake news.

To carry forward the battle for the rights of patients and the culture of science, I decided to stand as a candidate in the Regional Elections in 2018 with Giorgio Gori's civic list and then in 2021 in the Milan municipal elections, as the head of Beppe Sala's civic list " Milan in Health".

I am committed as a Councilor with the aim of making Municipality 1 a territory of innovation and good practices in the social-health, prevention, education and environmental fields.

Starting from the idea that the health and well-being of every citizen, first and foremost the most fragile, children and the elderly, does not depend exclusively on the provision of health services, but requires the development of political, ecological, pedagogical and human solidarity aimed at overcoming the exclusively welfare approach.
