Certificate of housing suitability
The housing suitability certificate is a document that certifies how many people can live in an accommodation.
- Its release is the responsibility of the Municipality where the accommodation is located
- in some cases the assessment of the health and hygiene requirements of the home is envisaged.
The certificate of suitability for housing is essential for non-EU citizens to obtain:
- the residence contract for subordinate work, including the 2020 amnesty (Law 77, 17 July 2020)
- the EC residence permit for long-term residents - formerly a residence card - possibly also extended to family members
- entry for self-employment
- the reunification of family members, if they are abroad
- the entry of accompanying family members
- family cohesion, when family members are already in Italy.
How to submit the request

To submit your request follow these steps:
- make sure that the accommodation for which you are requesting eligibility is located in the territory of this Municipality
- check the Geoportal now - prepare the forms and documentation based on the channel you will use to send the request
- to download the forms visit main page of the service - send everything through one of the channels below.
Procedure of the practice
- If clarifications and/or additions are necessary, we will ask you to complete the documentation
- having verified the presence of all the necessary documents, you will receive a response via email indicating the GRIA protocol number
- the certificate will be issued within 30 days from the registration date, unless the terms are interrupted: you will receive an email with the details of the appointment for collection and/or for the necessary additions
The release follows the order in which the requests were submitted: emergency procedures are not contemplated.
