The gaze of others

Milan, October 24 2022 - Friendship and love are the themes at the center of the film festival organized by CBM Onlus curated by Ledha Milano, as part of the "Inclusion in movement" project sponsored by Municipality 2. 

Different stories that address the topic of physical and intellectual disability from surprising and never banal points of view, to tell it to the widest possible audience, but also reflect on how cinema represents it. An opportunity for debate and comparison.

The appointment is at the Officina Theater in via Sant'Erlembaldo 2.

  • Friday 28 October at 21pm - "Beautiful minds"

an "on the road" film, which tells of a trip to the South of France and the birth of the friendship between Louis (a reserved and silent man, director of a funeral home) and Igor (a forty-year-old lover of philosophy), a person with disabilities due to cerebral palsy. The two don't know each other, at least until Louis hits Igor with his car while he is making deliveries. From here their journey and mutual understanding begins.

  • Friday 4 November at 21pm - "A taste of rust and bones"

by French director Jacques Audiard, tells the story of Stephanie, a fascinating killer whale trainer who becomes paraplegic following an accident during a show. Her world seems over, until she meets Ali, a young man who alternates odd jobs with clandestine boxing matches to make ends meet. Despite the difficulties, the two start dating and build a deep bond.

  • Friday 11 November at 19pm - "The Co-Op"  

the screening of the short film will be followed by a debate with the historian Matteo Schianchi, curator of the Media Library of LEDHA-League for the rights of people with disabilities. 

  • Friday 11 November at 21pm - "Body and Soul"

tells the story of Endre and Mária, employees of the same industrial slaughterhouse in Budapest. Mária (quality control manager) is unpopular at work due to her autistic behavior and excessively strict application of regulations. Endre, a fifty-year-old with a paralyzed arm, is intrigued by Mária, much younger than him, but his attempts to make friends are unsuccessful as the woman feels uncomfortable in social interaction and reacts with harsh ways. But a deep bond will be born between the two when they discover that they share the same dream.
