The Little Orchestra of the People

The Little Orchestra of the People

Milan, 10 December 2022 - Sunday 18 December 2022 at 18 pm, at the Refettorio Ambrosiano in Piazza Greco 00, the Piccola Orchestra dei Popoli arrives with The violin of the sea: an evening of music, dance, readings and projections, which narrates the migrations of different poles of the world through the songs of their musical tradition, played by musicians of different nationalities, with the violin built with the wood of the boats wrecked in Lampedusa. The artistic direction is entrusted to Ciro Menale

The Piccola Orchestra dei Popoli is an artistic laboratory that brings together musicians of different nationalities. An experience of possible coexistence between people belonging to different cultures and religions, born within the Casa dello Spirito e delle Arti Foundation. Although there is a historical nucleus of musicians, the Piccola Orchestra dei Popoli is conceived not as a stable group, but as a structure open to collaboration with other musicians, depending on the particularity of the individual projects brought to life by the Casa dello Spirito e delle Arti Foundation. The musical repertoire, made up of original and traditional songs, combines South American rhythms and Indian melodies through harmonies of the Mediterranean and Balkan sounds and which follow the nationalities of the members who rotate within the Orchestra from time to time.

The event is part of the "Being artisans of peace" project which includes, together with the concert of the Piccola Orchestra, also the theatrical show "Carta Canta": music and words to tell the story of the search for dignity and the fight for the rights of "second generations", brought to the stage by the Alma Rosè theater company.

With the patronage of Municipality 2.
