Guido Lopez in hand - 1924/2024

Guido Lopez in hand - 1924/2024

100 years ago Guido Lopez was born in Milan.
Guido Lopez's work is articulated and developed in different areas. It is difficult to give an exhaustive definition, which does not risk leaving out important sides of a multifaceted personality and tireless productivity. Narrator, essayist, interpreter of his time, cultural organizer, he stood out for his writing style which was a lifestyle. Ironic, scathing and an enemy of rhetoric, he left us a multi-layered autobiography, with many branches, although never collected in a single volume.
He generously dispersed the story of his life in scattered prose, which the exhibition for the centenary of his birth intends to reconstruct and systematise in a journey through twentieth-century Italy which is accompanied by an exclusive montage of his texts, the exhibition of books and of the articles he wrote, of the correspondence he had with the authors of his time.
Forced to flee dangerously from his homeland in 43 as a persecuted Jew, he maintained his dual facets of Italian citizen and Jewish community, never denying one or the other.
