The door of the buildings. This threshold which is control, the border of private property, the extreme margin of individual appearance, the limit between the foreign and the domestic. It is also the symbol of separation or communication, and a place where the fantasies of passersby gather.

From 25 May to 18 June 2023 the artists of the Premiata Ditta duo (Anna Stuart Tovini and Vincenzo Chiarandà) present at Assab One the results of their "sociable device", a collaborative, open and partly unpredictable process, from which they took shape an exhibition and a book.

Close to the railway tracks and along the Martesana, in Crescenzago, Nolo, Turro, le Rottole, along Viale Monza and all of Via Padova. Over the course of three months, Premiata Ditta was led through the neighborhoods of Municipality 2 of Milan by the indications and emotional cues that it gathered from dialogue with people it met through word of mouth. Weaving a network of affinities starting from the Via Padova Viva association.

To create the frottage on display, large sheets of paper were placed on the doors, transferring the traces of wood, locks or wrought iron onto the paper with large dark pencils. The result of this action are imprint-drawings, which also make us perceive the three-dimensionality of the doors.

Thanks to this device of images and words, the inhabitants had the opportunity to rediscover their neighborhood, to restore its uniqueness, and they also dialogued with each other, discovering common territories. And in a certain sense the doors opened...

The book, available in the exhibition, contains introductory texts by Arianna Curti, Emma Muracchioli, Elena Quarestani, Roberto Pinto and Premiata Ditta.

With the collaboration of Via Padova Viva and multimedia contributions created by LAC Liceo Artistico Statale Caravaggio students.
