Urban Beekeeping Course 2023

Milan, 05 December 2022Green Island/Urban Beehives, in collaboration with the Caritas Ambrosiana Foundation and with the patronage of Municipality 2, organizes the introductory Urban Beekeeping course dedicated to all citizens, young people and women, with particular attention to people with fragility.

A useful path to learn more about the natural world that surrounds us, to safeguard urban biodiversity, to adopt a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle, in the months of January-February-March 2023:

Introductory course to urban beekeeping, with 5 theoretical meetings + 1 visit to the apiary, to learn about the fascinating world of bees, the correct basic practice for managing a hive, even on the balcony of your home, and the production of honey.

Topics covered: history of beekeeping; biology and morphology of bees; pollination and contribution of bees to the environment; hives and hive management equipment; apiary; operations for honey extraction and characteristics of honey; botany and legislation.

Registration deadline: 15 January 2023.

  • Tuesday 24 January 2023 - 18pm - 00pm
  • Tuesday 7 and 21 February 2023 - 18pm - 00pm
  • Tuesday 7 and 21 March - 18pm - 00pm
  • visit to the apiary (date to be defined)


The course will take place both online and in person, at the Caritas Day Center in via Sammartini 116.

It will be possible to continue a second module, in April/May, with a practical course in the field at urban apiaries.
