REMEMBRANCE DAY 2024 - COMPLETE SCHEDULE OF INITIATIVES

Remembrance Day 2024 in Milan will be even richer in events, testimonies and moments of reflection compared to 2023. The growth of the anniversary has been constant for years, demonstrating an increased awareness on the part of the city and its actors, of the historical and cultural need to transmit the memory of the facts that marked the twentieth century and the entire history of humanity.
A growth that also occurs, and perhaps above all, thanks to the commitment over the years of the witnesses of those years who, starting from Senator Liliana Segre, have allowed us to build shared knowledge and a need for reflection on the value of history and human actions.
The schedule of events organized on the occasion of January 27th is rich, spread across the entire territory and open to all towns and citizens.
There are over 60 initiatives of different types, from meetings with students to official celebrations, with numerous languages, from music to words, from images to documentaries.

Monday 22 January, at 12:00, in the Clock Room a Palazzo Marino, the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, together with Senator for life Liliana Segre, presented the events scheduled for Remembrance Day 2024, those organized by the administration and those coming from the city's subjects, collected in the schedule on the "Milan is memory" website.
The live broadcast of the press conference will be visible for 10 days in the "Milan is memory" section of the WebTv Radio of the Municipality of Milan.
The program is below.

The City Council meeting on Monday 22 January, as the anniversary of Remembrance Day approaches, will be dedicated to the complex and sadly current topic of hate speech. The installations will continue on March 7, the days in which the eightieth anniversary of the strikes of March 1944 occurs.
With those laid in March, 197 stones will be laid, each in memory of a person deported from Milan and killed in a concentration camp. They are a fundamental piece of the Second World War, of racial and political persecution and of anti-fascism; but, above all, an important part of the history and identity of the city of Milan.

The names, stories and backgrounds of the people remembered by the 2024 Stumbling Blocks will be presented in a evening in the House of Memory

These "stumbles", which since 2017 have restored individuality to the victims of deportations, for the fourth consecutive year will also have a digital narrative declination thanks to the collaboration between the Stumbling Stones Committee - Milan and the European Institute of Design, with the patronage of The municipality of Milan.
